BIO

Myrandas is a Latin urban band based in Los Angeles, created in Havana in 2011 by Cuban guitarist / Grammy-nominated engineer Marciel Miranda and Russian-born Armenian vocalist/songwriter Kristina Miranda. The duo built their fanbase as a rock project, but 2022 marked a new chapter for the band. In September of 2022, they released their last EP under that name High Grass and announced the change. Their upcoming music is full of Latin beats and has a fresh and unique touch of urban and pop genres. Myrandas form the current lineup of the band along with Cuban-Puerto Rican percussionist Richard Herrera.

The story began in 2009 with Kristina's arrival in Cuba to record her solo album. She and Marciel met inside the recording studio, where they started writing music together and fell in love. In 2010, Kristina moved from Moscow to Havana, and the couple joined forces, creating a project High Grass. At the end of 2015, the band started to attract media interest, performed at the Havana World Music festival and collected a nomination for The Best Rock Band of Cuba at the "Cuerda Viva" Awards.

In 2016, Kristina and Marciel made the decision to take their music overseas and settled in Los Angeles. Their first show stateside took place at the Last Frame of Sand movie fundraiser, where the band opened for Stanley Clarke. In 2017 the band started to perform around LA, at legendary venues including The Viper Room, Rainbow Bar, and Cabo Wabo Cantina. Myrandas also played at local festivals such as Echo Park Rising and Mar Vista Music & Art Walk. In 2019, the band participated in the We Can Survive - Opening Act Competition and was placed 2nd in the alt-rock category.

In 2020, the duo started to bring awareness to the situation in Cuba through their music. In December, the band released their single "90 Miles", written and produced by the Mirandas and mixed by Grammy-winning producer Jacquire King. Referencing the distance between the US and Cuba, the song reflects the strained political relations between the two countries. In July of 2021, the duo released “Home” to shine more light on the situation on the island. The song features the remarkable talents of Matt Bissonette (Elton John, Ringo Starr) and Christian Paschall (Maren Morris, David Crowder).

Known for its rebel music, Myrandas were featured in Rolling Stone and Buzzbands LA, among others, and supported by Planet Rock, Maxim Rock radio stations, and many more.

In May 2022, the band hit the stage again and performed for the first time since the pandemic at the Next Fest at the LA County Fair. There is more to come from the band this summer. Their new EP 'Someday' is set to release on August 26th!
